Consonant Blends
Consonant blends are two consonants together that each keeps its sound. In Level 2, we introduce blends like bl, cl, fl, and sl, so your child can read words such as “flag,” “clip,” “slip,” and “black.” Practicing blends opens up a whole new set of words for your child to explore.

Digraphs: New Sounds from Letter Pairs
Digraphs are pairs of letters that work together to create one sound. We focus on common digraphs like ch, sh, and th, helping your child recognize words like “ship,” “chop,” and “that.” This concept is essential for expanding vocabulary and reading more smoothly.
Introduction to Long Vowel Sounds
While Level 1 focused on short vowel sounds, Level 2 introduces long vowel sounds where the vowel “says its name,” like in “cake” and “bike.” We guide your child through the differences between short and long vowels, making it easier to decode new words.
2nd Sight Words
Sight words are a core part of reading fluency. In Level 2, we introduce a new set of sight words that appear frequently in reading materials, such as “see,” “get,” “will,” and “now.” Mastering these sight words allows your child to recognize them instantly, boosting reading speed and comprehension.
